The new m.unit blue has moved on from the established previous version by undergoing significant development and improvements. It is now equipped with 12 inputs and 10 outputs, replaceable high-quality cable clamps and, most notably, Bluetooth® LE. This enables the m.unit blue to be connected to our ‘m.ride’ smartphone App. This feature is unique for motorbike accessories.

The m.ride App manages the entire setup and alarm system. Fault diagnostics can also be performed during operation and without having to remove the m.unit. The secure, encrypted Keyless Go function can also be used.

When this function is activated and you approach your motorbike with your smartphone, the on-board electrical system is activated and the motorbike is ready to be started.

The m.unit blue is the digital control unit for your motorbike – the heart of the entire on-board electrical system. It can be operated using buttons or using conventional handlebar switches. It controls all necessary components on the vehicle while also performing fuse functions.

There are considerably fewer relays and individual components in the wiring harness and the vehicle can be rewired with less effort in a very short amount of time.

When using the m.button, all switch connections are reduced to one single cable.

Another innovation from motogadget: the m.button.
It's a big help - in combination with the new m.unit blue, basic and m.unit v.2 - in reducing 'cable clutter' and simplifying wiring harnesses.

Integrated into the handlebar tube - or any other adequate location - this tiny cylinder will electrically connect all handlebar instruments, switches and buttons.
Using state-of-the-art bus technology, the m.button digitally processes signals and transmits them to the m.unit over a thin cable.
The electrical consumers will then be switched inside the m.unit.
All control wires are moved into the handlebar. This saves space, weight, labour and time. A 'must have' for custom bikes with clean-look handlebars.

In simple facts:
a) normally, the operating current (e.g. headlight or turn signals) is transmitted directly via the wiring of the handlebar switches. Due to the high currents, cables with large cross-sections have to be routed from the fuse box to the switch and back to the electrical consumer.
The result: big cable bundles. Definitely, a 'no go' for custom bikes with restricted space or a concealed electrical system.

b) using the m.unit without the m.button, just a thin cable for each switch- or button-controlled feature has to be routed to the m.unit. These cables only carry minute control currents. All high loads and currents are switched directly at the m.unit and transmitted directly to the electrical consumers. This already leads to a significant reduction and simplification of the wiring harness. Here you can see the example of a circuit diagram.

c) using the m.unit blue, basic or m.unit v.2 in combination with the tiny m.button, you will once again reduce the amount of cables that have to be routed! All switches/buttons on the handlebar are connected at the shortest distance possible and concealed inside the handlebar. Consequently, you will have to route only ONE thin cable from the m.button to the m.unit. All loads and currents will be switched directly at the m.unit (see explanations above). A layout reduced to the max! Here you can see the example of a circuit diagram with use of m.button

The m.button is completely moulded in, making it water-tight and resistant to vibrations.

The weakest point of a Yamaha XS650 is the charging system. As your bike is now 30 to 40 years old, your stock components have had plenty of time to deteriorate from several factors including vibration, moisture, and just old age. It is just a matter of time before one or more of the components are going to fail you and leave you stranded.

The major downfall to having a stock charging system is that it uses an electromagnet to produce voltage to charge your battery. Your XS650 must have a good charged battery to run, spark, and charge. So if for any reason your battery becomes depleted (you forget to turn off your key, you have a loose connection, or the battery just goes bad) you will be stranded whether you try kickstarting your bike or not.

This all is eliminated with the permanent magnet alternator kit. Your bike does not use an electromagnet in your alternator therefore you won’t get stranded if your accidentally leave your lights on or your battery goes dead.

Another downfall to all stock XS650 charging systems is that they use carbon brushes to send voltage to your rotor, over time these brushes wear down causing your bike alternator to lose contact with the rotor and your bike will fail to charge your battery. With the permanent magnet alternator there are no wearing parts, so you will have a maintenance free charging system.

Another downfall to the early model XS650's is that you have a separate rectifier and regulator on your bike, the regulator operates on an old "points" style system. Eventually the regulators will fail because of wear in the moving parts and old age. The permanent magnet alternator comes with a new solid state combined rectifier/ regulator (no moving parts to fail) that looks much cleaner and will outperform and outlast the original Yamaha equipment.

One great advantage of this kit is that it will allow you to eliminate your battery from your system (and replace with a capacitor) for an ultra clean look.

NO CUTTING OR SPLICING OF YOUR STOCK WIRING HARNESS IS REQUIRED!

The kit comes with detailed installation instructions with photos and it is an easy 2 wire hook up (just hook the positive red wire to your battery positive and the negative green wire to your battery ground).

The mo.lock NFC is a contact free digital ignition lock and substitutes mechanical ignition locks or their electrical switching feature respectively.

The associated digital key/transponder unlocks when the mo-lock NFC is approached (switching distance approx. 40 mm) and the ignition is switched on or off - completely contact free.

The mo.lock NFC is based on the latest NFC technology (Near Field Communication) and therefore, unlike e.g. radio remote controls, extremely tamper-proof.
Each key/transponder has a unique digital code. Only the right digital code unlocks the mo.lock. Key and mo.lock are absolutely free of mechanical wear.

The mo.lock switches an automotive relay with a possible load of up to 40 A - sufficient power for every on-board system.

The hidden mounting of the small mo.lock, covered by non-metallic parts like e.g. a plastic side panel, permits completely removing the mechanic ignition lock. Clean look and various design possibilities are guaranteed - especially for custom bikes!

The two keys have the size of a key-chain and can be used for switching and learning new keys. A maximum of 125 keys can be learned to each mo.lock NFC. Additional keys can be purchased with us.

The mo-lock NFC has a LED on the front which indicates different status by colour. To protect the battery the standby current in switched-off mode is only 3,2 mA, reduces to 1,5 mA after 16hrs und after 8 days to 0,75 mA.

NOTE: We do not recommend using the mo.lock combined with immobilizers! Please contact your dealer/manufacturer for informations about the possible deactivation of the immobilizer.
