The RPHA 91 is HJC's new modular touring helmet that was engineered for all-day comfort. The new Premium Integrated Matrix EVO shell (P.I.M. EVO) provides enhanced shock-resistant performance and is lightweight by using reinforcement materials that include carbon-aramid, carbon fiber, glass fiber, organic non-woven fabric, and linen fiber (natural fiber). The new distortion-free, HJ-37 face shield and HJ-V17 sun shield provide a clear and increased peripheral view for the rider. Designed to perfection, the chin bar locking system now has a hidden closure point that allows for smooth contact and less pressure on the cheek area. Keeping noise levels to a minimum is the RPHA 91 3D-engineered low-noise interior that is focused to reduce road noise significantly. Also Included with this is the neck roll system to ensure you drown out the noise. For convenience, the EPS design accommodates riders with eyewear. The RPHA 91 will also accept the second-generation Smart HJC Bluetooth systems.

Knox Scaphoid Protection System

Scaphoid injury is the most common hand injury caused by the grab effect when the palm of the hand makes contact with the ground. Knox invented and patented the SPS, which for the first time gave riders effective protection against common scaphoid injuries caused by either a compression fracture or by hyper extension.

The Micro-Lock Knox SPS is a clever system that works by attaching 2 parts to the palm of the glove, making a bridge over the scaphoid. These plastic parts act as a slider eliminating the grab effect and scaphoid injuries, which are notoriously painful and slow to heal. This has proven to be a very effective system for riders with no loss of flexibility, discomfort or interference with the controls when operating the bike.

Tech-Air Off-road System

Tech-Air® Off-Road is an FIM homologated Airbag System designed specifically to handle the rigors of Rally riding and provide unrivaled upper body protection. Developed and tested since 2017, in the most grueling conditions of the Dakar Rally, the world’s toughest off-road race, the Tech-Air® Off-Road System offers the most advanced active airbag technology for off-road riding. The Tech-Air® Off-Road System, with the active airbag inflated, delivers CE Level 1 full Chest and full Back protection, plus coverage to the shoulders, neck, and collarbones in the event of a crash. The System is integrated with an Alpinestars Off-Road Protection Jacket that is equipped with a Level 1 passive full back and limb protection, integrated protection on the arms and a CE Level 2 passive full chest protector to offering riders enhanced roost protection against rocks, debris, and other obstacles they may come into contact with on the trail. bumps and different types of terrain crossed at higher speeds, unlikely encountered in typical Enduro competitions. Typical environments where these riding scenarios occur are mainly characterized by desert terrain (with dunes and sandy ground), gravel and open countryside settings.

• STREET Mode is optimized for asphalt roads including situations in which the rider’s motorcycle is hit by another vehicle while stopped.

AIRBAG System Tech Specs

No external sensors are required for the system to operate.

• The Tech-Air® OFF-ROAD System uses an integrated, certified lithium-ion battery, with a fully charged battery life of 30 hours and a recharge time of approximately 4 hours; charging the battery for approximately 1 hour will provide approximately 8 hours of riding time use.

• The LED Display features an integrated charging port for convenient and easy charging of the System; simply plug the USB-C cable into the Recharge Port on the System’s LED Display and connect it to a power source.

• Ease of use; to turn on the Tech-Air® Off-Road System, simply zip up the System and it will automatically turn on and activate the Airbag System. To deactivate the airbag, unzip the System and it will automatically turn off.

• A dedicated Shipping Mode slide switch is located on the ECU, which when turned on effectively puts the System into sleep mode. Only accessible once the Electronic Case on the back protector is removed, the Shipping Mode switch allows the battery to be disconnected from the System during transportation or when the System will not be in use for a prolonged period of time. The System is sold with the Shipping Mode turned on, make sure to turn the Shipping Mode off when you open the box and use the Airbag System for the first time.

• The Tech-Air® Off-Road System’s Electronic Control Unit (ECU) and airbag are completely removable so that the Protection Jacket can be washed separately

Tips for sizing:

Summer Mesh Jacket, ideal for wearing a T-shirt or light thin wind stopper underneath the jacket. If you go a size up to wear something thicker, this is ok since you can adjust the arm, waist, and hip straps.

We suggest you loosen the straps, add your back protector to the jacket and fit the jacket, and adjust the straps to ensure a good comfortable fit.

We offer removable cheek pads for our ECE-certified R22.06 Gringo, Gringo S, and Gringo SV helmets so you can replace old, dirty ones or fine-tune comfort with a thinner or thicker set depending on your preference. 

Note: This cheek pad set will fit all ECE R22.06 Gringo, Gringo S, and Gringo SV helmets but use a different color mesh than the previous ECE 22.05 cheek pads. If you would like ECE 22.05 model-specific cheek pads with the grey mesh, they can be found here.
