The Arai XD-5 — also known as the Tour-X5 — is Arai's most versatile adventure helmet, completely redesigned from the ground up with a priority for protection. Configurable in three distinct styles (adventure, on-road, or off-road) by swapping or removing the peak and outer components, the XD-5 brings riders closer to the ideal Arai protective shape while delivering all-day comfort on any terrain. DOT and Snell M2020D certified.
The XD-5 features Arai's Intermediate Oval (IO) interior fit shape — a neutral design that tends to fit most riders well. A helmet must be tried on to determine a proper fit.
The Peripherally Belted Complex Laminate Construction shell greatly increases strength and flexibility while maintaining low weight and a lower centre of gravity. A 10mm wider base (5mm flare per side) makes the helmet easier to put on and take off.
Just 3.5mm deep, the front logo duct feeds two central 10mm intake ports. It opens and closes easily with gloves and is designed to break away upon impact for enhanced glancing-off ability.
The all-new peak delivers more effective ventilation, improved high-speed flow-through performance, a greater range of sun-blocking adjustability, and increased resistance to buffeting. The elongated, rounded profile also helps protect against mud and debris.
A completely new 8-vent system keeps riders cool in any situation. Key vents include the 3D logo duct, a 3-position centre top vent, a 3-position chin vent (for demisting and fresh air), an inner chin bar shutter (directs air to mouth or visor depending on position), side and neck exhaust vents, and a removable rear duct that also functions as a goggle-strap locator.
The Variable Axis System A (VAS-A) shield mechanism allows for faster, easier visor swaps and delivers a larger, clearer field of view. A Pinlock anti-fog lens insert is included standard.
The pull-down chin spoiler reduces wind intrusion at the base of the helmet, helps draw out hot and humid air around the cheek pads, and reduces visor fogging and wind noise.
The FCS (Facial Contour System) cheek pads use multiple layers of varying foam densities with a "spring" foam for extra comfort at the lower jaw and cheeks. A 5mm peel-off inner layer allows for a customized fit. The Dry-Cool liner transfers heat and moisture away efficiently, and all interior components — head liner, cheek pads, neck roll, and chin curtain — are fully removable and washable with lukewarm water and gentle soap. The interior lining is odor-resistant, antimicrobial, and super soft.
The ERS (Emergency Release System) integrates bright pull tabs inside the cheek pads for easier access to an injured rider. A double D-ring strap provides secure, reliable retention. A redesigned nose deflector makes goggle use easier.

The new 3D Arai logo duct — just 3.5mm in depth — feeds two central 10mm intake ports, a first for Arai and made possible by the PB-cLc2 shell construction. At 31 mph it channels 40% more airflow; at 74.5 mph, 7% more. A short-stroke lever at the top opens and closes the duct easily with gloves. The duct is designed to break away upon impact.
The one-piece aerodynamic rear exhaust/spoiler, operated by a 3-way switch, is inspired by the DF-X2 of the Corsair-X but redesigned for touring use — and tested up to 300 km/h at Suzuka. It efficiently draws air while smoothing airflow over and around the helmet, improving stability and reducing buffeting at highway speeds. Designed to crush or break away upon impact, it has no influence on protective performance.
The 3-position (open, midway, and closed) sliding air-scoop chin vent flows a larger intake volume of air and features a replaceable filter. The actuating mechanism is easy to use with gloves.
Designed to fit and connect a communication system easily on the shell exterior — without any compromise to the protection offered by the inner EPS liner. A neck roll wire pocket allows installers to neatly tuck away excess wiring for a clean finish.
The Contour-X uses Arai's Peripherally Belted Complex Laminate Construction (PB-cLc2) for lightweight strength. An updated material replaces the AR-mat to reduce weight while maintaining rigidity. An extra layer of Super Fiber belting reinforces a crucial area and provides flat sides for easy intercom fitment.

New Type 12 diffusers are 20mm longer and take in 19% more air than the previous design. The new air intake vents have three positions and are designed to provide improved sealing, decreasing road noise and water intrusion.

The IC Duct-5 provides 11% more airflow than the previous Delta Duct 5. The larger three-position switch is easier to open and limits water intrusion when fully closed.
The chin curtain accentuates the egg-shaped form of the outer shell, blocks turbulent air intrusion from the underside of the helmet, and increases negative pressure to enhance chin vent function by drawing more air from the mouth area.
